Named Destinations
Named Destinations is a plug-in for FrameMaker that is supplied and installed with the FINALYSER.
Named Destinations provides a convenient non-modal dialog for entering Jump to Named Destination, Jump to Named Destination & Fit to Page and Jump to Special Page hypertext markers.
After correct installation Named Destinations automatically loads when you
start FrameMaker. Now the Named Destinations item is activated in the FINALYSER in FrameMaker's menu bar.
Use the Named Destinations plug-in as follows:
1. Open all or some of the documents that you will be needing when editing. Minimum: You must at least have open the document in which you want to enter the hypertext marker and the one in which the Specify Named Destination hypertext marker is located.
2. Place the text cursor where you want to enter the new hypertext marker (in a text column only!)
3. In the FINALYSER menu, click on Named Destinations.
4. Select radio button Jump to Named Destination, Jump to Named Destination & Fit to Page or Jump to Specific Page.
5. Choose the document that contains the destination marker from the pop-up menu. Continue with 8, to enter the page number in case you have selected Jump to Specific Page..
6. The system now lists all the named destinations in a scroll box (firstpage and lastpage exist in each document).
7. Choose your destination marker from the list.
8. You enter the new marker at the position of the text cursor in the document that was active last by clicking on the New Hypertext Marker pushbutton or by double-clicking on the selected destination marker
After selecting the destination marker, the non-modal dialog allows you to choose a text cursor position in a new document. Before making your input, ensure that you have chosen the correct destination marker!
When you open or close documents and paste and delete destination markers, the system reinitializes the dialog.
The pathspec to the destination is always relative. The system only enters the absolute path in the marker text if the destination document is located on another drive.
PDF conversion of book components: When converting individual FrameMaker documents to PDF files, you must close the FrameMaker book before carrying out PDF conversion. Otherwise, the markers that were described do not work in the PDF file.
